I am currently working on my second research piece for the NEAS conference in Nov 2009. My first paper on the embalming of Jacob and Joseph was presented last year in Nov 2008 at the same conference. Unfortunately I was unable to be there as I was having lung surgery at the time, so this year will be my first time to present the paper myself.
My research topic is “Social and Political Elevation of Dream Interpreters in the Ancient Near East”. It is a fairly untouched topic as dreams are normally analyzed from a psychological, symbolic, or theological viewpoint which makes my research slightly more difficult. I was able to find several sources that touch briefly on the subject and from those quick remarks as well as other evidences I believe I will be able to develop a plausible theory. I’m hoping to shed light on the profession of “interpreter” if indeed such a profession existed. This would be helpful to the Joseph narrative regardless of the outcome. It would give us further information on the Egyptian political and social system at the time Joseph lived there.
I am hoping to have my paper published on another online site when it is completed. If this happens I will put a link on this page.
